The National Peanut Festival is back and is gearing up for the best year yet! After cancelling the festival in 2020 due to the pandemic, they are ready to celebrate their 77th year and welcome thousands of visitors from across the Wiregrass and beyond.

Dothan is known as the “Peanut Capital of the World” and the Wiregrass is where the majority of peanuts in the United States are grown each year. The National Peanut Festival honors the contributions of local peanut farmers and celebrates the dedication and hard work that they put in every day. The National Peanut Festival is a 10-day event with attendance of 210,000+ fairgoers. Throughout the 10-day festival, you can enjoy many family events including livestock exhibits, concerts, delicious food vendors, amusement rides and the demolition derby to name a few. The event closes out with the National PeanutFestival parade which travels through downtown Dothan and is always a hit.

In October of each year, the festival holds a Miss and Little Miss National Peanut Festival pageant that area queens participate in to vie for the coveted title.
