Alabama Woman Turns to Outdoor Advertising to Find Kidney Donor
February 21, 2022
A local Coffee County woman is desperate to find a kidney donor and has a BIG strategy to find a match. Betty Jo, also known as Jody Millette contacted Durden Outdoor to discuss her unique situation. After fighting kidney failure for over six years and realizing that no one in her family is a match, Betty Jo felt that there must be something else she can do to help find a kidney that she so desperately needs. Her doctor who practices in Elba, AL. suggested that she search for a live donor by utilizing billboards. He thought that it would be her best chance at finding a donor.
Just after one day of utilizing digital billboards, ABC News affiliate, WDHN, picked up the story and ran it the same day, giving Betty Jo hope in finding her match. Betty Jo can be seen on several billboards throughout the Durden Digital Network in the Wiregrass area. “I chose the slogan ‘Have a Heart, Give a Kidney’ hoping that somebody would have a heart,” Millette said. “I know without a shadow of a doubt that God has my donor already picked out, they’ve just got to know that I’m ready for that kidney.”
While Durden Outdoor receives many requests to become FAMOUS in the Wiregrass, this one hit a bit differently. “We have always been so focused on branding and increasing our client’s bottom line that this request really brought a new meaning to making someone FAMOUS,” says Bill Durden, Vice President. “We were thrilled to be able to help Ms. Betty Jo and pray that she finds a match and receives her new kidney soon.”
